PLASTIC TRASH FROM THE OCEAN COMPOSED INTO MUSIC
PLASTICPHONIA
music from the ocean
With the music art project PLASTICPHONIA we are dedicating ourselves to the internationally relevant topic „global plastic pollution“ and „plastic - throwaway society“.
The artist Crystn Hunt Akron collect together with Greenpeace, environmentalists, and Clean Up the beaches organisations plastic waste, which is washed up on the beaches of the seas and rivers. Crystn Hunt Akron, soundartist and musician use the plastic trash as instruments and composes out of the noises of the material the “plasticphonia”.
40 tons of plastic end up in the sea from the Danube every year.
Around 8 million pieces of plastic enter our oceans every day.
50% plastic is single use - and used for no more than 15 minutes before being thrown away - polluting our planet for the next 500 years! (2021)
Plastic waste
becomes music
By moving the material, sounds which were collected at the Danube, in Mallorca, in South of Italy, in Barcelona and Odessa are generated from plastic parts such as brushes, bags, bin, bottles, tubes, cups, etc. The trash acts as an instrument and this plastic waste is going to be composed into music, an electro-acoustic symphony.
Plasticphonia becomes audible through concerts, interactive room-, sound- and sculpture installations and as a vinyl record.
